Full-time /
Here at Lever, we believe that employee success is critical to customer and business success. We are incredibly proud of the workplace we’ve built, and as Lever enters an unprecedented phase of growth, we need an employee ops expert to help us take our foundational people processes, tools, and systems to the next level so that the Lever team can do their best work at scale. And that’s where you come in!
This is truly one of the most unique HR roles in existence. Because Lever itself is in the HR space and our product is all about empowering HR teams, investing in people is simply part of how we do business and a core part of our DNA, and the People team here is seen as a valuable partner to the rest of the organization.
As our primary owner for everything related to employee operations, you will ensure all our processes and policies are impactful, scalable, compliant, and aligned with our values. You will revise what we already have in place and build from scratch what we are missing, with a diligent eye toward efficiency and effectiveness. You will drive everything from mapping out initial strategies and priorities, to “interviewing” relevant stakeholders and proposing solutions that incorporate their input, to managing rollout, iterations, day-to-day operations, and communication. In close collaboration with the rest of Lever’s Employee Experience team, you will set the industry standard for employee practices that truly support the employee — and bring the rest of the company enthusiastically along on that vision.
Since this role is all about raising the bar, we are looking for someone who has a mix of HR expertise (tools, best practices, relevant laws and regulations), operational chops (stellar organization and project management skills), a strategic lens (connecting day-to-day work with bigger-picture organizational objectives), and the ability to influence (inspiring the company on why a process change will help up-level us as a company). If wearing all these hats on a daily basis is not only feasible but also truly exciting to you, we’d love to hear from you!
WITHIN 1 MONTH YOU'LL...
- Attend Ramp Camp, which is Lever’s week-long version of onboarding. You’ll learn about all aspects of the business with a cross-functional cohort of new Leveroos.
- Partner with our Director of Employee Experience to define key success metrics for your role and how to keep track against them.
- Design and roll out anti-harassment guidelines and manager trainings, in collaboration with our People Programs Manager.
- Working with our People Programs Manager, revamp our process for responding to inbound HR requests so it’s as efficient as possible.
- Run your first Lever-wide payroll period and make sure everyone is paid correctly and on time, with support from the Employee Experience team.
WITHIN 3 MONTHS YOU'LL...
- Run onboarding from start to finish with your first group of Lever new hires in collaboration with People Programs Manager (including verifying employment eligibility and helping to deliver Ramp Camp content), with an eye toward making it even more efficient and effective moving forward.
- Conduct your first Lever exit interview with a departing employee and ensure their offboarding is efficient, smooth, and, respectful.
- Revise our headcount planning and compensation benchmarking process to be more scalable and competitive.
- Audit our benefits and perks (including commuter benefits, gym subsidy, etc.), and propose changes to make to our offerings and providers. You’ll keep in mind the needs of our diverse employees and loop in our Employee Resource Groups (which represent different employee groups) to make sure our decisions take into account the perspectives of different communities at Lever.
- Audit how we’re using our current tools (for example: our HRIS, our internal Wiki), and map out a plan to make sure that our ecosystem of tools is effective, simple, and cost-efficient.
- Define and roll out a more consistent approach toward performance management, in collaboration with the Director of Employee Experience, to ensure that we measure performance fairly and drive the behaviors we want to see.
- Work with Lever’s IT team to identify opportunities to further streamline our SOC II compliance process.
WITHIN 6 MONTHS YOU'LL...
- Implement the improvements that you previously suggested surrounding our tools, benefits, and perks.
- Run your first Lever-wide comp calibration process to ensure we are paying competitively. This will include gathering and analyzing market data as well as partnering with the People Programs Manager to facilitate manager trainings and company-wide communication around comp conversations. Solicit feedback from stakeholders in order to revise the comp calibration process so it’s more efficient in the future.
- Manage open enrollment end-to-end — from confirming providers and offerings, to organizing trainings, to responding to employee questions, to tracking participation — with an eye toward making this process easily repeatable in the future.
- Partner with our Recruiting team to revisit our approach toward internal mobility and how we handle visas, so that our processes are consistent, clear, and efficient, as well as help our employees to feel fairly treated and well-supported.
- Map out upcoming culture-building events in collaboration with the Workplace Operations team, to make sure there are ongoing opportunities for Leveroos to connect with each other.
WITHIN 12 MONTHS YOU'LL...
- Identify and implement employee operations priorities for the next 6–12 months, focusing on what will have the biggest impact.
- Revamp our Employee Handbook to keep it up-to-date and aligned with Lever values.
- Assess compliance risks; propose and implement plans to close the gap.
- Define our approach toward non-SF working arrangements (transfers across geographies, compensation and benefits changes, travel requirements, etc. ) so that they are consistent and aligned with Lever values.
